Brenda Song in The Social Network

    Brendasong

One of our favorite Disney stars, Brenda Song, is starring in the new film The Social Network, which tackles the drama and dealings behind the founding of Facebook and is based on the book “The Accidental Billionaires” by Ben Mezrich. Brenda plays Christy Lee, a smart and sultry Harvard student and friend to Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, played by Jesse Eisenberg, and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, played by Andrew Garfield. Apparently she also becomes involved with the co-founder of Napster, Sean Parker, who is played by Justin Timberlake.

The party girl character (who also commits arson in the film) marks a departure from Brenda’s longtime role as London Tipton, an airhead of an heiress. However, Brenda played a strong woman in Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior and in other films, so we can’t wait to see her portrayal of Christy Lee.

The Social Network hits theatres on October 1. Check out the trailer below!

Brenda Song - Debby Ryan - Moises Arias - Joe Jonas - Friends for Change

I like the fact that Disney’s Friends for Change brings serious environmental issues to the people that can change the future, the kids. In this video Brenda Song along with Debby Ryan, Moises Arias, and Joe Jonas talk about how you can make a difference and the Oil Spill.

Brenda Song really talks about the Oil Spill itself and how she was a bit confused with all the information out there, which I am sure a lot of people were. Debby Ryan talks about how the waterways are connected and you can do stuff in your area to help the ocean. Moises and Joe talk about getting informed and Joe Jonas really talks about getting more people to help. Like I said it is great to get the word out.

Brenda Song's character in 'The Social Network' commits arson

When the first full-length trailer of The Social Network was unveiled today, critics and movie-goers praised the trailer and some were outraged to see Brenda Song, the star of Disney's hugely sensational seriesThe Suite Life on Deck, committing arson by lighting a pile of unknown items on top of a bed.

Song, 21, was seen wearing a black suit in the trailer whilst committing arson. In addition, the film focuses on the evolution of Facebook, the online social network created in 2004 on the Harvard University campus, and how overnight success and wealth negatively changed the lives of the Harvard classmates and technicians who created it.

The 21-year-old promising vixen potrays an intelligent, sultry Harvard University student named Kristy Lee. Song was also seen in the trailer wearing provocative clothing such as a Britney Spears-esque Catholic school uniform.

Song's character, Kristy Lee was also seen provocatively and aggressively french kissing a male in a public toilet in the trailer.

Song's onscreen best friend, Alice Cantwell is portrayed by Malese Jow, who claims Song's character and her character met the film's male leads at a 'racy party'. Their introduction evidently lead to Song's character being emotionally and sexually attached to the male leads (including eye candy Justin Timberlake, whom she has a sexual relationship with).

The full-length trailer of the film has garnered numerous positive reviews, with reviewers such as the Wall Street Journal and Time calling it a 'brilliant visual masterpiece'. In addition, the film marks the beginning of Song's deperature from her squeaky clean image and will show the Young Hollywood star in a different light.

Brenda Song: 'The Social Network' Trailer Debuts: So Many Hot, Young Hollywood Faces!

    Malese Jow And Brenda Song

There are so many things to love about the new trailer for "The Social Network," a.k.a. the Facebook movie. There's the song choice (a haunting, choral version of Radiohead's ode to social misfits, "Creep"); there's the minute-long Facebook photo montage depicting the cycle of life; there's the fact that it's the first time we've ever gotten to see any actual footage from the movie; there's the sure-to-be-amazing trio of Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake; and there's the quick glimpse of Hollywood Crush BFF Malese Jow during the second minute.

The movie follows the drama-filled creation of the popular social networking site at Harvard University in 2003. Jesse Eisenberg stars as Mark Zuckerberg, who, this trailer tells us, basically created the site to impress girls and get invited to elite parties.

The catch, of course, is that he's accused of stealing the ideas from other Harvard students, alienates his friends, and is sued in federal court. It's a little more exciting than your average biopic. In fact, the short scenes we see in the trailer have all the makings of a thriller: tears, sex, partying, court cases, the usual.

Brenda Song graces cover of Feature magazine

Brenda Song recently graced the cover of Feature magazine, a US-based magazine for young adults.

From an extract from the magazine describing Song:

Nuts, maybe. But she's also as close to your typical young adult as someone with a  networth  of $20 million could be. And like most  young adults, she's got strong opinions.

Surprisingly strong, considering how her fans follow her every word. Take, for example, her current obsessions.

She loves Netflix, the iTunes free single of the week, and karaoke.

Her knees get knocky over Jude Law, who is "so adorable" in The Holiday,  Brad Pitt, who is  "so sexy," and Gerard Butler. "You've seen him in P.S. I Love You, right?"

Brenda asks, swooning. "My favorite. I bawled my eyes out." And don't even get her started on Scarlett Johansson. "She is, honestly, the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."

As for writing with BFFs Ashley Tisdale, Miley Cyrus, or Debby Ryan—"Ashley and I are the most alike.'"

  • How to Dress Like Brenda Song

    June 8, 2010

How to Dress Like Brenda Song

Brenda Song has been a model and actress for many years now and because she is so young she will no doubt enjoy many more years in the business. Perhaps best known for her role in the Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Song’s look is a well sought after one. To dress like Song you have to remember to keep with the light colored theme and always dress in a cheery and happy fashion.

Here are some tips on how you too can pull off the Brenda Song look:

    •    Dresses: When Song goes for dresses she chooses those that are typically made of a lighter material and are always a cheery color. She likes reds and yellows and she seems to have fun mixing and matching accessories with her dresses. When choosing your dresses, go for what is comfortable. If you like a full version dress, then go for that and if you want to wear a longer style skirt, topped with a nice t-shirt, then that’s in the realm of the Song look as well. Just be sure to stay with bright and happy colors.

    •    Casual look: Song can get as laid back as anyone. She is often seen wearing a pair of form fitting cargo pants or even a pair of jeans. She will always top this off with a fun tank top or t-shirt that will have a fun or wild design. She will sometimes go dark with the t-shirts, but more often than not, she will stick with white and accessorize from there.

    •    Shoes: Song likes heels. Her heels are never too high, but no matter what she is wearing it seems that heel accompany the fashion. When choosing your heels pick a color that will compliment the clothing that you are wearing and depending on the fashion you are wearing you can go either open toe or close toe.

    •    Accessories: Song likes to accessorize. She will often accessorize a t-shirt with a jacket or vest and has also been known to wear leggings with her dresses. When it comes to jewelry you can go kind of freelance here because Song does. Sometimes she will be sporting hoop earrings and still other times she will be wearing a pair of less noticeable earrings. She also wears bracelets and gold necklaces quite often so feel free to do so as well.

    •    Hair and make-up: Song’s hair is elegant yet simple. It is long and straight and she is very rarely seen with it up. Do your hair by either parting it in the middle or to one side and don’t get crazy with the hair products. To apply your make-up like Song go with lighter colors but be sure to accentuate your cheek bones as Song does. She also opts for a lighter colored lip stick over a darker or bright color and to pull off the look you should too.

Now just practice flashing a huge smile wherever you go and your transformation into Brenda Song will be all but complete.

Brenda Song expands Hollywood career by directing

The Suite Life on Deck star Brenda Song has recently opened up in an interview with Scholastic about directing and being behind the camera. The Scholastic Magazine reporter said:

Q: What do you want to do five years from now?
    Brenda:
I love what I do. I love working and Disney's been good to me, but I hope I keep making films and shows. And I've been really lucky with this show, especially it being so successful — I got to really watch what goes on on the set. I have a great production coordinator who lets me sit upstairs and see how a set really works. I have a director that will let me shadow him and see what it's like. I could never be a full-time director because I'm too much of a perfectionist, but I've really gotten to expand my education and knowledge of Hollywood being on this show. Not just being an actress but being behind the camera. I never know — I like to keep all my doors open, but I love to work. Just keep learning and see where it takes me.

Song, 21, has starred in numerous teen films such as Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, Stuck in the Suburbs, Like Mike  and College Road Trip. At the age of 17, the hazel-eyed brunette landed her own Disney Channel series, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody which spawned a large franchise and earned her the title 'Queen of Disney'.

The twenty one-year old starlet has also been involved behind the scenes in her 2008 adventure film, Special Delivery. Song began her career as a child fashion model, then became a film and television actress. She is also a martial artist and writer.

Song is set to hit the big screen this year, starring in the major theatrical films The Social Network (Columbia Pictures, David Fincher directs) and Boogie Town (Vivendi, Chris Stokes directs).

  • The Suite Life of Teddy

    January 30, 2010

    The Suite Life of Teddy

Even though Teddy doesn’t live in a hotel like Brenda Song’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody dog Yvonna, he lives a pretty sweet life. He is loved (and spoiled) by all of the members of his family, especially his “Mommy” Brenda Song. “He’s not even our puppy, he’s our baby,” says Song of Teddy. Song also argues with her brother over who will get Teddy when they move out; she says she gets to keep Teddy because he is her baby. “I feel sometimes that… I birthed Teddy.”

Ladies, take note: Teddy is quite the mama’s boy. Says Song, “For all the holidays, we buy Teddy gifts and Teddy buys us gifts. Last year, I got a Wish necklace with a dog bone that says “I Love Mommy”, and I have a big frame that says “Teddy Loves Mommy”.” She’s also very protective of her baby. “I haven’t met a puppy good enough for my Teddy yet… Teddy will always be mine. I’ll be the only girl in his life.”

Teddy’s sweet life also involves hanging around with the other celebrity pets on the set of The Suite Life. Dylan and Cole Sprouse, who play the title characters, have two bulldogs: an English Bulldog named Bubba and a French Bulldog named Curry. Teddy enjoys playing with them, but also tormenting them. Song describes his tricks: “They’ll be in the school room, and he’ll go and he’ll bark at them… And then, when Bubba wakes up, he’ll run all the way down to my dressing room and hide.” Teddy also runs around with Ashley Tisdale’s dogs, Blondie and Maui. Apparently, Blondie, the biggest, is afraid of Teddy, while Teddy is afraid of Maui, who is smaller than him. “So it’s literally they just chase each other around. Blondie won’t play with him, and then Maui will come and Teddy won’t play with her. It’s really funny.” It sounds like there are as many antics backstage as there are in the show!

Despite their differences, all of the dogs came together to celebrate Teddy’s birthday. Song threw Teddy a big party, complete with a doggie cake. The cake was probably gourmet, as Teddy doesn’t eat dog food. When the Songs make dinner, they cook up a portion without salt just for Teddy. “He’s a pampered puppy,” says Song. “He’s our perfect dog.”

    Kidsday interviews Brenda Song

BY AYLIN CASTILLO, BRUCE LANDY AND LISETTE ROMO, Kidsday Reporters, Ages 10 and 11, Corona and Elmhurst

We met actress Brenda Song while she was in New York recently. She stars as London Tipton on the Disney show "Suite Life on Deck."

How do you feel about working on "The Suite Life on Deck"?

I have so much fun. We have all become a family. I love London. I love literally stepping into her shoes every single day. I miss her when I am not playing her. Phill is like my second dad. The crew is really like a family. We have a good time.

Is your real life closet the same as it is on the show?

I wish. I think London is a little crazier than I am. I would take some of her pieces because I am a little more casual. I love some of her pieces, I especially love her shoes.

Ever since you have been famous, how has your life changed?

Not really. My two brothers drive me insane but they also keep me really sane. Especially when the show first came out, we didn't think anybody watched it. We would met people who watched the show and would have comments we would be so shocked. Because we had no idea. We just put so much love and hard work into the show. I haven't changed too much I get to do really cool things like come to New York and meet you guys.

Brenda Song opens up in the April/May 2009 issue of Scholastic Choices about her mother’s battle with breast cancer.

Having a seriously ill mother is scary, especially for a teenager. Brenda went through periods where she cried and felt sorry for herself – which is normal – but then she realized that any anxiety she was feeling was nothing compared to what her mom was experiencing.

"Why let my mom go through this alone," Brenda says, 'When all of us in our family can help her get through it?"

Brenda learned all she could about breast cancer so she could talk to her mom about it, and she's determined to use the experience to help others.

“We can’t help what’s going to happen in life or what life is going to throw at us. But we can control what decisions we make.”

Brenda says it's great to be back for a second season and to spend more time with her "second family."   There's a lot to look out for this year, including "Suite Life" going to HD, and "a lot of relationships are being explored," Brenda says.  Although Ashley Tisdale and Kim Rhodes are no longer on the show, Ashley returned for the episode "Maddie on Deck."

"It was so nice to be back on the set where we got close," says Brenda.  "I see her so much off the set as well, so it was just like going back to 'The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.'  Ashley truly is like my sister, so I miss her."

Brenda became interested in acting by watching "Star Search" as a kid. She decided she wanted to be on TV, so she started doing commercials before breaking into series television and movies.  "The thing I love most about acting is playing different characters and meeting all the different and diverse people," Brenda says.

When asked her thoughts about the recognition of Asian-Americans in the entertainment industry, Brenda pointed out that while she was growing up the only Asian-Americans she'd seen on TV were Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.  "The opportunities are still limited," she says, "But now there are definitely more roles out there."

Brenda is half Thai and half Hmong. Although she's never been to Thailand, she'd love to visit someday.  "If the opportunity came for me to work in Thailand, I'd be very interested. I love to try new things."

Her final words included a message for aspiring actors to believe in themselves, "stay focused, and work hard.  Don't get discouraged."  And lastly, "I'd just like to thank everyone for watching the show and always supporting me."

Shortly after starting "The Suite Life with Zack and Cody," Brenda talked to TheStarScoop.com about the series.

She'd done so many Disney projects that she didn't have to audition for the role of London, it was offered to her. She thought it sounded like fun, and – like most people - wondered what it's like to live in a hotel. "So [the show] kind of give people  an inside look and the inside scoop on what it's like [to live in a hotel.]  I mean, it's way exaggerated, but it's fun.  And when it comes to the hotel they get this whole cast and array of characters.  They're all just kind of thrown in this big circus and we just kind of see what happens!"

So I don't really have a preference [over doing films or television], 'cause I just want to keep working! So if I get a movie or a TV show, it doesn't really matter to me.
